Two nights ago, Mike kept me up until 2 a.m. with his snoring, and Eliza's been waking up at night with a cough. But last night Mike slept in the guest room so I could catch up on my sleep, so it figures that my old pal insomnia paid me a visit. I lay there, with my mind going, and had the following thoughts:
Part of the reason I want a dog is that it will eat whatever food scraps the kids drop on the floor.
Losing your voice makes it hard to yell at your kids.
Whenever I hear Steve Winwood's "Higher Love" I think he's going to sing "Bake me a pie of love."
And I think it's funny that when I hear "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, I'm reminded of the Sopranos, but Eliza is reminded of the movie Bed Time Stories.
The reason I bought Wheaties Fuel was because Peyton Manning was on the box.
I wonder how painful Botox really is.
Shamrock Shakes are in season.
What wine am I going to drink now that they've discontinued my Tunnel of Elms Chardonnay?
I'm still irritated with Lost. Okay, we get it, there is good and evil on The Island.
Speaking of television, I love that Joey Tribiani quote "You don't have a TV? What do you point all your furniture at?"
I like my minuscule "vision board" next to my laptop screen, but the only thing on it is the NYC Marathon logo.
It drives me nuts that Wegmans has a tile floor in the produce section, which is so freaking loud when you push your cart over it.
I haven't gone cross country skiing all year.
Whenever I go to the bank, I feel like they're going to yell at me, or not give me my money.
I can't believe Luke is going to be six in May.
I think I read a good cross section of books. Right now I'm reading Where Men Win Glory, about Pat Tillman, before that I read The Historian, about Dracula, and before that, the Overnight Socialite, chick lit written by the wife of a guy I went to High School with.
Speaking of High School, my reunion is this fall.
Which is making me wonder about botox.

This post made me giggle. I love Lost and I totally don't care that I'm confused as all get out. It's just good fun to watch.
I too associate Don't Stop Believing with the Sopranos! Every single time.
"Bake me a pie of love". Too funny. :) I am sure I will start doing that now too.
Botox, don't know how painful it is, but some days I think it might be worth it!
Hope you get some sleep. I highly recommend fans and earplugs! :)
Oh that is too funny! My reunion is coming up too - 20 years baby!!!
I'm not gonna lie, having a houseful of dogs is really nice because I never have to bend over to pick up or wipe up any spills on the floor:)
I am sorry that you can't sleep, really I am. But your post cheered me up a bit. It was so fun reading your random thoughts. My mind wanders exactly like that at times. Doesn't it help to write it down? Anyway, thanks for the chuckle. Good luck with the sleep... and the botox. :)
One of the things that we noticed right away after our dog passed away at the end of last summer was just how much food gets dropped on our floor. It was shocking to me how often he had saved me from vacuuming over and over.
Oh, Joey Tribiani - I miss Friends. How YOU doin?
Love the botox comments! And the quote about the furniture. Didn't know that one. Hope you sleep tonight.
You are hilarious! I hate the nights of insomnia! I would have to say I think the craziest things too :-)
haha love the stream of consciousness! :) I would totally deal with the annoying tile at Wegman's if they would just come to the capital district!
I HATE the tile floors on Wegmans,,,
but I LOVE wegmans its such a cluster!
Shamrock shakes are a problem.
I loved your post. thanks for making me smile lots today!
D
Hi Molly,
Very funny post...you so crazy:) I loved going to my reunions...they were a total blast!! If you decide to do the Botox let me know how it works out for you:) Remember, I am older than you and could use a little vanity maintenance soon!!
Too funny. This post makes me glad that I'm not the only person around with random thoughts.
BTW, I totally agree about the Wegman's floor...drives me crazy!!
Ha ha, that's kind of what I do every night...and people wonder why it takes me so long to fall asleep.
PS A dog is awesome for cleaning up after the kids.
The Shamrock shakes... I want one so bad, but I am trying to start watching what goes in my mouth and down my throat, and something tells me that this would not go well. LOL! And botox? Um, needles! You look great so no need!
Bake me a pie of love, oh oh!!!
A good basic (read not too pricey) buttery chard (oh how I like buttery) is Toasted Head. But I love LaCrema when I am willing to spend a little more.
Botox is not too painful, so I hear ;)
I have a reunion coming up this month!
Lol! It's amazing the kinds of things that run through the mind when you can't sleep! I often laugh at some of my late night thoughts.
You think like I do lying in bed! ;-) I have The Historian sitting in a pile of books to read--did you like it?
LOL
Sorry that you could not sleep but I love your random thoughts!
Random thoughts are wild!!! I mostly have them when I can't sleep (like yours) or when I am running.
I laughed out loud at all of these. A couple of these really resonate with me too. What is the deal with Lost anyway? I love, am annoyed, bemused, amazed hoe every time anyone on the show is asked a direct question, the person answering always stays off in space for at least five seconds before diving into some heavy philosophical diatribe that does not even remotely answer the question, but rather creates more questions. Ugh... frustrating.
Coincidentally, I had insomnia for years. I would wake up in the middle of the night repeatedly to do work. My cure? Five children.
I think insomnia is a total mommy thing. I never had it before, and now I randomly wake up in the middle of the night and start making lists of all the things I have to do the next day. Ugh!
Stopping by from SITS :)
If I dreamed all of this while I was sleeping I would wake up EXHAUSTED : ). You sure do accomplish a lot in your sleep!
its funny how your mind wanders like that when you are trying to fall asleep! I forgot about Shamrock shakes!!! I will have to make sure to get one this year!
Molly, this post is hilarious! My guy has trouble sleeping sometimes, and I love asking him what he was thinking about. Not the general things, but the little specific things. I don't think he realizes how ridiculous it is until he says it out loud. We usually have a good laugh over it at breakfast.
(PS -thanks for the info about my comment feature. I took off the word verification so I hope that helps. I'm still too blog-challenged to do anything more!).
OK I agree that a Shamrock shake is ncecessary every year but botox? I think a tattoo is a better idea...
OMG, Molly I was cracking up this whole post! Thanks for making me smile today. There have been a lot of funny blog posts from people lately and I LOVE to laugh!
I feel the same way when I go to the bank. Why do we feel like that?
OMG, your hilarous! I love you!
BAHAHAHAHA! alright so i LOVE LOVE that quote from friends. reading it in your post made me laugh outloud despite the bad day & previous bad night i had of no sleep. hmm seems familiar.
visiting from SiTs, glad I did.
stopping by from SITS!
Oh dear Lord, I hope that I never suffer from insomnia... sounds terrible. My DH used to snore SO loud until he was tested for sleep apnea & got a sleep mask. My nights are so much more restful now :-)
I fully understand the whole not sleeping....I was cleaning puke at 2 am. No fun!:) Sleep deprived! Have a nice weekend!
You are so funny and hit the nail on the head with all the thoughts when not sleeping. Hope you get some sleep. P.S. My hubby snores too.
Mary
Hey, I'm stopping by from SITS.
I'm an insomniac, too. I'm working hard to recover, but not much luck yet.
I do have an answer for you. Botox hurts like heck, but is soooo worth it. Speaking of which, I really should schedule another appointment soon. Thanks for reminding me. :)
Stopping by from SITS. So funny. With 2 little ones, I can relate to the no sleep! Have a wonderful weekend!
Oh boy! This sounds like most every woman I know, no matter what their age is. Terrific blog post!
Love Wegmans!
Bake me a pie of love. Now that's funny. I'll never hear that song the same way again.
You are right about the dog. My kitchen floor has never been cleaner. Nor has my cat's litter box!
