fresh week, fresh start

I made some plans for this week, and they just so happen to include:

1. saying Thank You to my Great Grandfather William for coming to America from Ireland in 1906.

2. lovin' on my kids and hubs.

3. making more Irish soda bread, cooking up the corned beef and cabbage, pairing them up with a Harp or two, then making reubens with extra sauerkraut from the leftovers

4. Running. And some more running.

5. beginning 40 days of core work (thanks to Marcia)

6. looking forward to watching #1 seed SU in March Madness

7. trying not to wipe out on the stairs with a full basket of clean laundry like I did the other night.

8. staying far, far away from Red Bull......

......spring is getting closer every day.

Oh no! We are going to be cheering against each other in March Madness! I have to root for UVM! Last time they played in 2005 UVM beat them in the best game ever but..........................that may not happen this time. I have got to get my bracket filled out.

Yes...thanks to our Irish forefathers and mothers...both my mother's family and father's family came here from Counties Cork and Offaly, respectively. My maternal grandmother was a competitive speedskater, and I'm convinced that I got my competitive nature and my athletic ability (such as it is)from her. In honor of them, I will confess that I had four (yes, four) pieces of soda bread today! That's okay, though, as I've got 25 miles of mileage ahead of me this week. Happy St. Pat's to you and yours! And good luck to SU! (BTW, I agree... Red Bull=evil.)

Okay, I must have a reuben, with fresh homemade corned beef...

Happy St. Patrick's Day and I'm glad you're feeling better.

It sounds like a great week! Being Irish is especially great on St. Pat's Day. And, to answer your question I'm not doing the Boilermaker this year.

I went to our local market, and they had brisket, sitting in pickle brine, ready for homemade corned beef. I have never been a fan, but thats only because I have never really eaten it.

Thats an awesome old picture!

The soda bread! I forgot about this. I have an old recipe from my grandmother I wanted to do-thanks for reminding me. (Oh, and be careful on the stairs!)
