For race day, I'll be wearing my Children's Tumor Foundation tech tank:
my favorite cushy socks, paired with calf sleeves:
and, I think, my compression shorts.
When I say, I think, it's because they're tight fitting, and a bit see through. Which means you can see my rear end, although it also looks like I'm either wearing white underwear (no, it's just my pale skin), or a black thong (due to the seams in the shorts).
I love how they fit for a long run, and I'm going to wear them, but I don't want to feel/look silly. I thought of putting a pair of loose shorts on over them, but I think I'd get too hot.
What do you think?
Do you run for comfort, no matter what? Or do you go with what looks best?

I need more coverage. I, personally, would only wear those shorts with something over them )I'm too self conscience).
You obviously need a Team Sparkle skirt.... I'd go with turqoise or pink, with that lime green top ;).
I say run in what you are comfortable in for a marathon. :) (I would wear them if that is what I was most comfortable in)
Go with what is comfortable.
I wear my CEp short tights with shorts or a skirts over them. I love the level of compression and I KNOW they have helped my legs last in ultra events but I do not like the way they look on with all the seaming. BUT you should wear what you've trained and are comfortable in.
If they are looking at you behind, it's only because you are beating them! ;-)
Oh I like the Team Sparkle skirt idea!!
In my world, it's function over fashion. That said, a little fashion every now and then is fun too!
If you are comfortable in them, who cares what others think - I've seen plenty of odd things during races. Although, I might be self-conscious in them and might try something over them or something!
ITA with other, go with comfortable!! I bought tech undies because of my shorts just like yours.
When I am out in the morning when most people are in bed I go for comfort, but races I try to look a little more put together. I would just wear a skirt over them. Love the sparkle skirt idea! I usually wear my running skirts with compression shorts underneath on a normal run. Try it out and see. Then again who cares...if your comfy you are running a marathon...then go for it!!! You worked hard for that bum!
I'm with a couple of the others--pair it with a skirt!
Wear what is comfortable. I have seen far worse/scandalous outfits on race day.
I always vote comfort first. That being said, from what you described I think I would be self-conscious which would be a distraction and the last thing you want is your clothing to be a distraction. If you don't think it will be then wear the shorts - if you think it might be, then I vote for the skirt idea.
I go for comfort. But then I see tons of runner booty during races since I am not a front of the pack runner, which makes me always check what I'm wearing so I'm not too easy to make fun of. I've got some VERY comfy capris but I wear them with shorts because I think they reveal a bit too much for my liking.
Would you be mentally distracted wondering if people are looking through your shorts at your "black thong" or "white undies"? Or would you just run your best and not care? Maybe test run your outfit and see how you feel first! (The latter is always my strategy. I am waaaayyyy too paranoid and self conscious, but then I figure I'm not a fabulous runner, so I worry more about my appearance. I am SUCH a girl sometimes!)
I cut the collars out of shirts if they rub my neck and bother me. I have running shorts with holes in them. I love loud, obnoxious shoes, I have a drifit shirt with coffee stains and I wear it running all the time. My wife is appalled sometimes at my choice in running gear.
the point of telling you all this is that my opinion is probably not a good one for you dilemma!
I agree with Erin--comfort trumps style for 26.2. I like your bum, so go for it! ;)
Well, I personally wouldn't want to wear anything that made it look like I was wearing a black thong, because that would just be weird for a guy. But, I vote function over fashion. Although comfort is a relative term during a marathon, you need to wear what you're most comfortable in.
Hmmm - I'm voting team sparkle skirt too. Not sure you want to have you hiney posting up all over the internet . . . or maybe you do (but I'm guessing you probably don't). I don't think a sparkly skirt or loose shorts will make you too hot. Either way - I'll still be a follower and cheering you on (from IN).
You want to be as comfy as possible!
There are plenty of days in the year to look cute. On marathon day... you need to be comfortable! :) Rock the see through shorts... might help a guy runner behind you and then you did your good deed for the day! HAHA
Gotta go for comfort when you're going that far.
I am with giraffy, get a team sparkle skirt. They are so lightweight and will cover the bum enough. That is what I would do. Love the outfit!
My personal opinion, I'd be too self conscious just wearing those shorts. I'd put on a light pair of shorts over them. I don't think you'd be too hot. That's how I always run.
I agree with Colleen, for a race that long, its all about being comfy and not stylish
Your just coming off a little nagging injury. Compression all the way!
I would wear the hell out of them, especially if they help. I have a pair of tri shorts that are almost see thru too and I wear them with pride.
I've never tried the calf sleeves, but with my history of blood clots, I've often thought of using them to promote blood flow through the leg. I think they are cute AND functional!
I think it's better to wear comfortable clothes. I never wear a new item during a race.
Nice outfit.
Compression socks: with or without, no difference for me, I don't know why.
I'd vote for comfort but as you've witnessed, I'm not one for fashion.
