I showed my custom inserts to the Doc, and he said they were useless, and annoyed that my podiatrist charged me so much for something that wasn't helping me. Then he had me stand on a box, which was basically a photocopier for my feet. It records your measurements, and the inserts are made by using a laser. After my measurements were taken, I sat down with the Doc, and looked at the images on his screen.
Holy cow.
I almost asked him if I could take a picture for my blog, but then I felt silly so I just looked and listened. The first image was a normal human body, with my body image next to it. I'm not kidding, my image looked like the elephant man. Because my left leg is longer than the right, my left shoulder is higher than my right, the left side of my pelvis is tilted up higher than the right side, and my right leg turns inward.
Then we looked at the pictures of the bottoms of my feet. The first image was a foot that had the arch highlighted in red, which looked okay to me. When I looked at my foot, pretty much the entire middle part was red, I know I overpronate, but this is ridiculous.
I should have the inserts early next week, but I really can't wait any longer to go for a run. I have my Mizuno's sitting next to me, insert free. The sun is shining, and the high will be 77 degrees, so I have to get out. And stretch my mis-matched legs.
Every once in a while, we need a boost to get us out the door and moving. A high school friend of mine is battling brain cancer, and I wanted to share one of her tweets from last week
"R had long day of treatments yesterday.
In NYC for avastin, back to li for
radiation
then she went for a three mile run. Go r"
No excuses, just go.

Your chiro did all of that? My chiro never had anything like that at his office. I know I need something like that. :( I'm pretty amazed by this...
Sorry about your friend...
At least can you go for a walk?
Wow that would be really fun to see, my chiro has never done that either. I do know that I have one hip that has always sat slightly higher than the other, so I bet mine would look pretty cool too. :)
that sounds fascinating. I've never been to a chiro, but now I kind of want to...
Go run!!
Wow... that would really be fascinating to look at! I am hoping that these inserts make it all better Molly! :)
That tweet is amazing and such a sign of strength! Thanks for sharing!
I bet that was pretty amazing to see - I've always wanted to try a chiro cause I'm pretty sure there's some misalignment going!
That tweet is awesome -- like you said, no excuses!
Thanks for sharing that tweet - what a dose of inspiration!
Good luck with the new inserts. It sounds so high tech!
Do what you need to to be able to run. My chiro helped me more than any other professional.
Your friend is amazing...what an inspiration!
Glad things are progressing in the positive side...soon you'll be running :).
interesting...I feel like my chiro hates everything any other doc does and I feel like my exercise physiologist doesn't think my chiro is doing the right things either :0) i have no idea who is right so I'm just trying to pick one to follow for the longest
Sounds like this dr knows what he is talking about. Hopefully you can get everything straightened out!
That is crazy your friend ran while getting treatment for cancer. Just proves we can do anything we set our mind to!
Sometimes, what you really need is some individualized treatment, even without medical tools. No, I’m not taking sides between different practices. What I’m merely saying is that, sometimes, you just have to come to the right person. :) Glad your chiro knows what to do.
