Weigh In Wednesday, Back On Track

Two quick things......anyone still having Blogger issues???   I wrote my big giveaway post on Friday, but wasn't able to post it once Blogger went down. So I re-wrote the whole thing, pictures, links and all, and posted it Sunday.  Then yesterday the old one popped up, so I deleted it.  Just now I logged in, and the old one was there AGAIN.......huh?

At any rate, please check out my Mega Giveaway HERE, featuring nuun, SPIbelt, Allied Medal, Tough Chik, Wrightsocks, Inpired Endurance, Badger Balm, and Sweaty Bands!

Like several of my favorite Mom Fitness Bloggers, I'm on the list for the Top 25 Health and Fitness Mom Blogs on Circle of Moms.  I keep voting for my favorites, but can you help me stay in the Top 25??  Click HERE to vote, you can do it every day until June 1!

Back to business.  To be honest, I didn't weigh in last week.  I haven't been feeling my best, I don't know if I hit a plateau, but my heart wasn't fully in it.  I didn't eat as well as I should have, and I was worried about my foot again, I even googled stress fracture symptoms.  It's so weird, some days it feels totally fine, other days I'll wake up and it's bugging me.  Jill wrote the other day how she found out that she should be running on her bad heel, in order to strengthen the muscles of her foot.  Which I find interesting.  Why is it that I feel sore after I haven't been active for a couple of days, but once I'm back at it, I feel fine?  Is it because I'm using my muscles, and not losing them?

At any rate, I'm back on the salads, no more chocolate.  I love salads, but I really dislike making them.  Usually I look at what's in the fridge, and throw it all in a bowl, like this one, which was a bagged romaine mix, tossed with "rainbow mix" from Wegmans, which is a mix of shredded red cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots, I added a little cheddar, and slices of roasted chicken.  It was really good, but I would rather have had the pizza bagel I made Eliza for her lunch.  What do you add to your salads? I'm in a bit of a salad rut.

Weighed in this morning, and I thought the scale would have read higher than it did, so I was happy.  Since we started this challenge, I'm down four pounds total, with ups and downs along the way.  I have two weeks to drop those last six....so we'll see how that goes : )

This week's factoid is courtesy of Kathie Lee and Hoda....they had a segment this week on losing belly bloat.  The guest said one way to avoid it, is by being careful about when you eat fruit, you should always eat it on an empty stomach, like at breakfast or as a snack.  Because of the natural sugars, fruit is digested quickly.  But if you eat it after a regular meal, the sugars get trapped in your belly behind the other foods, the sugar ferments, turns to gas, and your belly pops out.  Gross.

Hope everyone has been faring well in your busy lives, have a great week : )

Ugh, salad ruts. I'm loving hard boiled eggs, chick peas, feta and sun dried tomato in my salads right now.

I've been eating a simple salad of spinach, carrots and cottage cheese. Sounds weird, but so yummy (and the cottage cheese adds some good protein!)

Oh... I forgot... I've been voting for you! :)

Love salads, but I also hate making them. Wonder why...

My new fave:

Slaw mix (cabbage is protein!)
Tbsp slivered almonds (or less)
Fresh ground black pepper
dash of rice vinegar

I'll add a sprinkle of feta every couple of week for a splurge!

WTG on the 4 pounds!!

Just voted again! :D
I'm struggling diet-wise too. Easter candy did me in and I'm slowly recovering but have lost my drive. I love salad but I'm usually so hungry I don't wanna do all the prep. I did have a great one yesterday with spinach, romaine, cuke, tomato, red pepper, celery, tuna, walnuts and I threw some sliced red grapes in there...gotta have some sweet!

Interesting factoid about the timing of eating fruit. Makes sense, but I'm inherently skeptical of anything learned through Kathie Lee and Hoda. I've never actually seen their show, but the spoofs of them on SNL, etc. are pretty funny.

Just voted for you. If my tiny brain can remember this I'll do it again tomorrow ... and the next day ....

I felt good all week and weekend, then jumped on the scale and gain 2.2 WTH!!! Seriously, it was a great week and ate nearly perfect. I dunno what happened, I am really clueless on this one. If I have a huge loss next week, maybe I am retaining today

My goto salad, spinach, black beans, tomatoes, and your favorite chunky salsa

I heard about that fruit timing thing a few years back but always forget to impliment it. [story of my life]. ;) That salad looks yum!!

I heard that about fruit, too...but I just like it all the time and probably eat too much (b/c of the sugars).

Voted for ya, girl!!! Woohoo, go Molly!

Actually, I'm not suppose to run "on" my sore heel but rather learn a whole new style of running, but yeah...the point being, my muscles in my foot are not being worked and therefore the soreness is supposedly that much greater. So I guess the moto for you and I is to constantly challenge our muscles :).

Another interesting factoid I did not know! Great job on the scale. A few of my favorite salads--mache lettuce with avocado and balsamic vinegarette; mesclun with roasted beets and goat cheese. Yum!

Thankss for linking to your giveaway! I missed the original post(s) during all the blogger hoopla.

That's very interesting about the fruit!

I used to have some foot pain last summer and then i started running in Brooks Ghost which don't have as much cushion as my asics and I have noticed that my feet feel stronger and my foot hardly ever hurts, so I don't know if running more helped it or if the minimal shoes did.

As for salads - I love avocado and tomatoes or walnuts and grapes and/or strawberries. I really only make my own salads in the summer when I can get good produce!

I hear you about the salad ruts, mine always seem so boring and somehow never taste anywhere as good as when I have someone else make it for me.

I had no idea about fruit and belly bloat - gross is right! Congrats on your four pounds, you're doing awesome! :)

"C" and I had this salad at a restaurant on Saturday and it was YUM-MY! I cut and pasted the description from their menu below -

Insalata Maria

A refreshing spring salad tossed in a pear vinaigrette dressing with sliced pears, Ossian bacon, crumbled gorgonzola cheese and honey flatbread croutons topped with a grilled pear marinade chicken breast. 8.79

The Ossian bacon probably isn't available on the east coast, but you any ol' bacon will work. It was super delicious and quite a refreshing new salad mixture.

Good luck -

I'm sorry your foot is still bothering you-maybe you did do something to a ligament (healing this can be slow and painful!)

Now your salad looks good-I know they are expensive but I get those ready made salads in a bag and just add cheese and mushrooms, maybe some croutons. (I hate the trouble of making them too!)

Hey I didn't know about that bloat thing with fruit...

I really hated it when Blogger went down! And it took forever to work again.

I like salads too, with a side order of fries.

Yay for a good weigh-in! I eat just about everything I can get my hands on every day, but I do have salad every day with my supper as well. I'm not very big on fruits though. Mostly the texture and smell that put me off.
