Full On Training Mode

Whose idea was it to train for a triathlon and marathon at the same time?

Oh, that's right, mine.

I'm in the middle of juggling my training schedule, in order to hit the right workouts, not miss any of them, but not overdo anything that might irritate my foot.  Saturday I went for an 18 mile bike ride, so I can now do each of the distances for my sprint, just not all at once!

I had an issue with one of my new bike tires a couple of weeks ago, I got a really bad flat, which was surprising.  In the interest of time I took it to the bike shop near my house, not the shop I bought the new tires from, and they told me the tube was pinched inside the tire.  Whoever had put on the new tires didn't do it correctly.  So now I'm paranoid that the back tire is going to blow out, right in the middle of my race.

On Wednesday I'm heading up to the lake for an open water swim and bike ride.  I'm going with my sis in law/running partner Jeannine, and her sister Gina, who had the idea to do IronGirl.  I feel really confident in the pool, and I'm eager to see how I do in the lake.

It's Monday again, with another great weekend behind us.  Mike put together the playhouse:

and we went berry picking for the third Sunday in a row, this time for blueberries.  They are the size of my thumbnail:

Now it's time for a run.

With all those blueberries your fingers should be purple!! Enjoy your first OWS.

Flats happen, unfortunately. The best thing you can do for yourself is learn to change one on your own and practice until you are good at it. I still hate changing them, but am glad I can!

Oh MY!! On the training. I'd say I don't know how you do it, but I know you do it bc you love it :) Blueberries = awesome!! Good Luck with the training.

Personally, I think training for both at the same time is a great idea. The tri-training strengthens and builds muscles to help keep the marathon training going well. Aside from the time committment, it's perfect.

Just be careful and don't overdo it - as a person who has had a million overuse injuries, it sucks!!

That's a huge blueberry -YUM!!!!!

I am thinking to buy a similar playhouse to my son.
I am a lover of bluebbery juice and yogurth. It is very healthy.
Good luck with your training.

After my about 30 bike incidents, I am pretty paranoid now to take my bike out. Maybe take your bike back in and have them check the back - just to be safe!

LOVE blueberries - love love love them. We used to pick them when we vacationed in Michigan for years and made me some yummy blueberry pie. Whaaa, we can't get good fruit here in Colorado...but I guess we have mountains so it's not all that bad!:)

Of course you know that I'm a huge Molly supporter and love that you are training for a tri and a marathon. Don't freak out about the flat. I suggest getting a lesson on how to change a tire too. Maybe take your bike into the shop to have them check for a pinch, and ask them to just walk you through it. It takes time (I'm no expert), but it might help ease your nerves. Also, don't freak if your first open water swim doesn't go so great. It gets easier... I PROMISE! :)

This means a lot of slow running and medium interval training.

How do you balance all your swibs and bricks while training for a mary?! Super mom!!

Blueberries are such a great fruit--how do you plan to use them?

Oh, and i posted a doggie treat that I think Frank may like :)

Indeed, who would be crazy enough to train for a marathon and triathlon at the same time? Sounds like it's going well though. Good luck!

Hey Molly! I am FINALLY starting to get caught up on blogs.

Sounds like your training is going well! I LOVE BLUEBERRIES!!!

I would totally take my bike into the shop and have them check for a pinch flat (I am behind, you probably blogged taht you did this already) and have them show you. Usually they are happy to do so.

I only OWS because of my pool situation (or lack of) and so it is my preferred place to swim. That said, I think learning to sight is a huge help, and keep going back - you gain confidence each time.
