I've gone without one for so long, including the past fourteen weeks of marathon training, that I almost didn't recognize the feeling until I took my shoe off yesterday, mid-run, in my new kicks.
A blister! UGH!
I had had it with my Nike's, so on Tuesday I went to Fleet Feet and got a much needed new pair of running shoes. I went with something new, the Brooks Adrenaline in a lovely size 11. They felt great as soon as I put them on, so I was excited to try them out on my run last night. I must have laced my right foot too tight, because I developed a blister between two of my toes. I forgot about how gross they look.
I'm going to stick a band aid on it today and get back at it, I have to do 8 miles today.
Now, onto the winner of the CSN giveaway, thank you to everyone who entered! Using random.org, the winner is #13, Wannabe Runner at One Crazy Penguin. Congrats!
You still have until Sunday to enter the Nathan Fuel Belt Part 2 giveaway.....

Hope it heals quickly! I too wear a lovely size 11 in running sneaks. Let me know what you think of the Brooks. My running store always tries to push them on me but I have never liked how they feel when I try them on.
Slap some moleskin on that sucker! Hope it heals quickly!
Ouch! I had a terrible time with blisters last year. I also get them *under* my toenails. Serious discomfort.
Hope yours heal up quickly!
Trying to make the rounds and check out the blogs of the fellow 'Distance Dreamers'. Sorry to hear about the blister, but almost always a good thing to get a new pair of running shoes. I've had great luck with Fleet Feet here in Raleigh, so if it turns out the Brooks continue to bother your feet I'm pretty sure they'll work with you to make you happy.
Hope the blister heals quickly.
Blisters suck. Hopefully it was just the tight laces, and not the new shoes.
Blisters are my nemesis!!
Sorry to hear about the blister, I always get them my first day in new running shoes.
I had some issues with blisters during half marathon training. I like the Baid-aid blister band-aids (they are kind of oval shaped and cushioned), with some sports tape over them (just one strip will do it). That was my go to combo and I couldn't feel the blisters with that on it. I also drained the blisters (gross I know but you feel relief), and once they were more healed, I still used the sports tape strips over it the spot to prevent the blister from coming back or getting worse. Good luck!
Sorry about the blister! I've never had one there...knock on wood!
Ooo sorry about the blister - get moleskin on it! Hopefully this is a one time thing and not an issue with the new shoes.
I HATE blisters!!
Ugh, I hate blisters too!
Woohoo about the giveaway though! :D
I hope they heal quickly. With me, blisters happen sometimes but black toenails happen all of the time!
I hate blisters as well as breaking in new shoes.
I have big problems with blisters, but normally from shoe rub, not between toes. I have started using Blister Shield -- a powder you shake into your socks. I don't know if it works,i.e, prevents blisters, but I haven't ever had one after using it. http://www.2toms.com/products-page/blistershield/
I have also used the Asics anti-chafe powder. It is so fine is feels almost like water if you rub it between your fingers; not chalky at all. Really weird. I like that too, on my feet, before long runs.
Yuck, I hate blisters. At least it's an easy fix (band-aid) unlike other injuries!
I'm going to knock VERY HARD on wood, but I've neer had a blister, and I hope I never do.
I had a pair of Adrenalines that I really liked. Then I wore them to the ASYMCA Mud Run.
That was the end of my Adrenalines.
A blister between the toes sounds horribly painful!
It seems the older I get, the more my feet rebel in a blistery fashion with shoes. It's ticking me off!
Thats what happens ....
When I'm out walking
I strut my stuff
And I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite
I just might stop to check you out.
Thanks Molly - this one is gonna be stuck in my head for the read of the day ..lol
Congrats to your winner.... I hope your toes heal quickly!!
If the band-aid doesn't do the job, try a piece of duct tape over the band-aid. Hope it feels better!
UGH! I hate blisters - moleskin is your friend!
Sounds painful...finding a new shoe perfect fit can take a few adjustments.
When I started my marathon training and doing the long runs, I got my first blister. Immediately, I orderd Injinji socks. They're toe socks and look pretty ugly but I haven't had a blister since. Def. look into them.
Ugh..I struggle with blisters ... a lot. So far they have been ok since I switched to smart wool socks so I have my fingers crossed...
Sorry for the blister, but they are part of our running life! Enjoy your new shoes. Never had Brooks in these 25 years of runs.
I'm an Adrenalines girl too ... size 10.5. :)
