Making a plan. Let's see how it pans out.

I've been thinking more and more about my race schedule for next year, and it's shaping up to be a nice mix of old and new, local, and a bit of travel.

My local races are pretty much a given, the Tipperary Hill Shamrock Run 4 miler (fun, fun, fun), the Mountain Goat 10 miler, the Boilermaker 15k (2011 marks my 5th year running it). But I've really wanted to explore some new races, which would only be a few hours away by car.

So here is some new stuff:

The first is the New Bedford, MA Half Marathon, in March, where the post race food is seafood and clam chowder.  Chow-dah!! yum. My BFF Jennifer is running it as her first half marathon, and it would mean a lot to me to run it with her.

The second is the Hershey Half Marathon in October, which I heard about from Mike.  I've wanted to take the kids to Hershey, so this would be a great trip for all of us.  Plus they have a chocolate station. Who needs water when you can have chocolate!!

The third is the Flower City Challenge, which takes place in Rochester.  Mark got me thinking about this one.  It's a weekend of races, including a half marathon, as well as a duathlon, that has me intrigued.  One drawback is that it's the same weekend as the Mountain Goat, but I'm still annoyed about my performance in that race, so we'll see what happens.

and..... finally.......Marathon #2.  I'm working on something for next fall, and I don't want to jinx it by talking about it.  Just keep your fingers crossed for me, and when I figure it out, you'll be the first to know......

(insert smiley face here).

What about the tri relay at Quassy you were thinking about? Is that still a maybe?

I ran the New Bedford Half one year...great race and good course...except the huge hill at mile 12! The Hershey race sounds awesome...I mean who doesn't want to smell chocolate as they run?!

Ohhhhhhhhh Kelly, now you have me thinking relay again!! I want to do a relay, I think Molly will have a blast at a tri race.

Do the Du!!! Seriously, I will help mentor you on the bike if you like in exchange for running advice, see, perfect, Im a biker and your a runner.

I like the Double option for that race, a half mary and a du for fairly cheap. Adds to the wow factor with family and friends, because we are crazy enough to do it.

Sounds like a great plan. My cousins ran Hershey this year and loved it (probably not as much as their kiddos though!)

I'm with the others... dabble in a multisport event. Do it... you know you want to!!! :)

Wow! This looks like a great plan and fun too! I've thought about doing the Hershey Half too, I'm going to keep it in mind. The Flower City Challenge sounds fun and interesting.

Sounds like you have things pretty much figured out. I'm sure it will pan out just right.

I am not sure I will be running Boilermaker this year as I am in a wedding the Friday before. We will see once it gets closer! I am thinking about running the Flower City half just as a redemption race, plus I heard it is a lot better than the MVP half in September here.

The Hershey one sounds cool - we're looking for destination races for the next year - I think we can pull off three. Hershey might be on the list!

Sounds like a fun year ahead!! I've been wanting to do a duathlon for a while now! Destination races definitely make things more exciting. Can't wait to hear what your marathon #2 will be!

Awww...why can't you come to Colorado to do a race???

I can't wait to hear about the secret marathon. Hurry up and tell us

Wow- you are getting organized. Hershey is cool in the fall-not the crowds like in summer months, lower priced, and definitely worth it with kids. Plus chocolate is a really big incentive, right? LOL!

I feel like I am late to the party, everyone seems to have 2011 squared away and I haven't even started.

I think that you have a great schedule brewing there. I remember your Shamrock run from last year....beer after the run:) Hershey would be a great one to add in the mix....the kids would have a blast.

You should come to Minnesota and run Twin Cities with me in October!

I am impressed with your planning. I usually fly by the seat of my pants when it comes to running races. Maybe that should be one of my resolutions?

Great time of year, planning future races.
But you can't jinx a marathon, just don't tell hammy about it.

Would be cool to see you at Hershey, I saw they opened it to 5,000 runners.
We're gonna book a spot at the Campground a little early, and if they offer special Runner prices at Hershey Lodge again, I would recommend it (was sold out by the time I knew about it).

I hope Frank is learning to accomodate your floor exercises, I have a similar problem with my kids :-)
