I guess I could pay closer attention

I love my Jeep. Especially in the snow, when I can drive with confidence, and especially in the summertime when I open the sun roof and blast my tunes.  I love it, but I'm kind of bad at taking care of it.  As you can tell by the following exchange from last Saturday:

Mike: your tires are squealing, when was the last time you put air in them?
Me: ummmmmm....

Mike: why is your Service Light going off?
Me: ummmmmm.....

Mike: do you need an oil change? When was the last time you had an oil change?
Me: ummmmmmm...

Today I came out of the grocery store, and my back tire was so low, I thought I had a flat.  A helpful gentleman looked at it, didn't think it was completely flat, and suggested I go across the street to the tire place and have them check it out. So off I went.

Service Dude: When did you last put air in your tires?
Me: Saturday!

Service Dude: Is it a Jeep Limited or Jeep Laredo?
Me: ummmmmm, Limited??

Service Dude:  How many miles are on it?
Me: blank stare.

Service Dude: Do you have Triple A?
Me: Yes!

Service Dude: Can I see your card?
Me: (searching through purse) hmmmmmm, must be in my other bag.

New Service Dude: So how many tickets have you gotten?
Me: Speeding Tickets?! Only one!

New Service Dude: No, for your expired inspection. It was due in October.
Me: blank stare.

Maybe taking care of my automobile should be a New Years Resolution.

So the snow has finally stopped, after dumping over four feet onto us, my outdoor Christmas decor is completely covered, the snow banks are taller than Frankie.  No outdoor runs, but I did hit the treadmill three times, so it's all good. But I was really looking forward to this weekend, a kid free/dog free weekend in the form of a Christmas party Saturday, and going to the Buffalo Bills/Cleveland Brown's game Sunday.  But the weather has other plans, in the form of an Nor'easter heading our way.  I knew we had to cancel when my friend Dawn (from Buffalo) started talking about bringing toilet paper and extra food in the car, in case we got stuck on the Thruway for a day or two.  I feel bad for Mike, who is a huge Cleveland fan.  Although I was a little nervous when he he said he was going to wear his Cleveland hat, because I heard Bill's fans can be a little nutty.

I can't help but add more snow pictures:

OH! And I forgot the winner of my CSN Giveaway! Thanks to everyone who entered, random.org picked #66, Karen from The Burrows Underground.  Send me an email and I'll get you hooked up!

Ha! You sound like me when it comes to my car! I noticed this morning that my inspection sticker was up in September! Ooops! I also still have sand in the back from this summer. Have fun with the snow!!

That snow is AMAZING! And you sound pretty much like me when it comes to my Expedition! I LOVE that car, but my husband constantly has to remind me to take care of it!

Four feet? Wow!

I'm with you on the car care. I got a flat back in the summer and when I pulled into the service station they said all my tires were paper thin. Somehow I think that should be my husband's job. That and taking out the trash.

Danielle said...

Holy Snow! I would never survive in that. I'm TERRIBLE at driving in that mess...

Hey you subscribe to the same school of vehicle maintenance that I do. The last time I got a flat, the service guy at the tire place took me outside to show me what bald tires look like, since all four of mine were.

That snow is crazy! Wow!

I have to take care of all of the scheduled maintenance on my wife's car. Otherwise it would fall apart and be my fault.

You're funny! I'm pretty good about my car. My husband is actually the one that drags his feet on getting stuff done on the cars. We're taking my car in for new brakes tomorrow. FUN!

That totally made me laugh! I'm the same way with my car.

It's snowing here now and I really hope it stops soon. I'm not ready to be done with outside runs!

Fantastic post! I was the same way with my old car. I had no idea when anything was done, if ever. Probably why I didn't think to get the tires replaced until there were metal threads sticking out of one. Oops.

That's a crazy amount of snow. Here, we talk about how much rain we've gotten.

Too funny :) I have a husband who is pretty anal about keeping our vehicles up to speed so I'm lucky. The snow is beautiful.

Dont worry, I may or may not be the same way, though I can not confirm or deny anything else

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!! I would hated that if I lived through that snow? Do you have a snowblower? If not, hubby is gonna have a sore back

haha Yeah, my husband will get in my truck occasionally and be all, "What's that noise?"

Me: What noise?

Hahaha, sounds like me! :)

And btw, still dry and 60 degrees here in Denver. Just saying!! We'll be paying in January, I'm sure.

Happy Weekend!!!!

You got a little bit more snow than me but its still A LOT! I am not excited for this next storm coming in Sunday :( I went to the Cleveland game last year, I bet this years will be better, at least for Cleveland!! I am a Bills fan, I just know they are not good.

Hey, I won the CSN giveaway. Yay, me! But I can't find your email. Mine is burrows3416 at yahoo. Thanks so much!

Just think... if you get everything fixed on your car now, you're totally good for like another year or so right? :)

That snow is amazing! :)

Hahahaha!!! You sound just like me when it comes to car maintenance. I. know. NADA when it comes to cars. I'm surprised I can find the gas pump.

But dude.....your inspection? :)

Congrats to your winner!

My wife is the same way with her car. She remembers oil changes but I have to ask about everything and still get blank stares.

Too funny about the whole car thing - I'm so bad about paying attention to that stuff too! Good thing the hubs isn't!

That snow is just crazy - would you mind keeping it though...so not ready for that to hit NE yet!

That's a hell of a lot of snow!

Got your message!! too bad we didn't get to have a "chat"! If it makes you feel any better, both of our cars are out of inspection, and I'm sure it is my fault somehow!!:)

Susan Fobes said...

Your poor Jeep-LOL! Hey, keep the snow over your way please. (We have had temperatures in the upper teens and twenties but just a little flurries.)

Caratunk Girl said...

Seriously, you guys got hammered with snow. That lake effect is something else.

Oh, I always forget about inspection. I just put my registration on my truck yesterday, it was up in OCT!

Holy Snow! I'm the same with my car, but am now looking for a new one which I WILL take care of.

Sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip to my hometown! It does sound, though, like NO ONE is going to want to be in Western New York come Sunday night and Monday morning. Something about snow, rain, slush, ice, wind and an overnight low of 10 that makes you just want to stay home...guess I'll be running inside for the next couple days!

Terri said...

The snow is headed our way, unfortunately! :( Stay warm!

Canadian runner said...

Wow, that is A LOT of snow. We barely have any right now in Eastern Ontario... although I think we are due tomorrow for a big one. My family is heading down to Buffalo for the game this weekend... they might need a hotel room by the sounds of things.

Love the new pic on your blog!

That's a lot of snow. And I relate to your car dilemma. My car is due for an emission inspection but I recently moved to NJ. Now I need a new driver's license, license plate, insurance and then worry about the emission test. I hope to get it all done before it snows here!

Black Knight said...

Ahhh women, hilarious story! Here a clandestine gets less controls than a driver!!! What is that white dust on your car? I never saw it before.

Raquelita said...

Wow! You guys have even more snow than we do! Thank goodness for treadmills!

It's good that you were so close to a tire place to have your jeep checked out after so long. :)

Erika said...

That snow pic is nuts!!! And I was whining about the 8 inches we got here:)

Tortuga_Runner said...

LOL I used to wonder how people could run out of gas, now I am that person who doesn't pay attention.
