Okay, I'll deal with it.

Here is the good news, my leg is feeling much better.  The bad news is, I definitely pulled my hamstring.

I went in this morning to see my PT with kids in tow (these are the times I'm thankful for my Droid, where I can entertain the kids with Yo Gabba Gabba and Ben Ten Ultimate Alien on YouTube).  I pulled my left hamstring, the one I had issues with before.  On the positive side, the muscle is fairly smooth, he couldn't feel any knots or tears, so that helps.  It turns out my hips are out of alignment, which makes sense because my left leg is a bit shorter than my right.  I was actually happy to hear that, mainly just to know that all the stretching and icing I've done wasn't wasted effort.

When I asked the million dollar question, Can I Run The Marathon, I got a maybe.  He hooked my leg up to those little electrodes that stimulate the muscle, iced it, and showed me some new stretches that should help my hip area.  I'm going back on Friday, and then we'll talk about when I can run.  But you know what, I'm still running the marathon. If I have to do it slowly, or walk a bit, so be it.  There is no way I'm missing it.  I'll just have to be smart about it.

Thank you for all the supportive comments about this whole thing.

Thought I would share our annual State Fair photo.  We always take it in the Dairy Building, with the kids and their I Heart Milk cups, chocolate for Eliza, plain for Luke.  It was about 95 degrees and we're a bit sweaty.  And yes, I'm wearing THE cowboy hat.

Bummer about the leg. I am so sorry. It's good you've seen the PT though. Hopefully with his help you'll be back on the streets soon. Cute picture of your family. You have a beautiful family.

ugh, I was hoping that wasnt the case, but I like your mentality, take it slow. You will do this, I have no doubt.

I miss the fair

Sorry to hear it's a pull, but it sounds like there's still hope. Go easy.

Great pic of you and the kids!

So weird, because you have been on my mind this week, and I didn't even realize you had hurt your leg!! Hang in there. You 've still got some time to heal up, and even if you didn't run at all between now and then, you are not going to lose any fitness. You will rock that marathon!!

Wow, I'm glad your, can I call it stubborn, nature led you to the PT. Stubborn because you're running that darned marathon anyway. But, definitely smart to score a professional "MAYBE."
Ah, the Droid. Gotta justify every penny of that $30/month data plan. Perfect to entertain the kids, though we are frequently thankful to have 2. When I'm solo with the kids, Droid time is an instant argument ("Toy Story puzzle! No!! Princess puzzle!")

I feel your pain. Really. I had a bunch of stuff planned for the fall, but instead I am resting sore/inflamed connective tissue in my upper gleut. Really a pain in the butt!

I agree with you. Still do the marathon, but easy. Love the pic!

Its hard to nurse an injury now. But PT, and not getting too far too fast on the road back are keys to whether the marathon is in the cards. Good luck with it.

Ugh, bummer about the hammie. But it is managable. Can you get some massage?? Or a foam roller?? Ice? Beer?

Hope it gets better soon!

Good luck with your leg! At least you have made a decision to run it - no matter by what means. I live in Central NY also and I enjoy reading your blog! Just went to the Fair with my kiddies this week also. Are you running the Rochester Marathon?

I hear ya on running anyways. I am still running mine although it may not be a fast and furious race that I had envisioned months ago I still see myself crossing that finish line!
heres to fast healing!!!!
Cheers,

Well if it helps at all, I would have done the marathon as well. Just slow and easy, but I wouldn’t miss it. Probably bad advice but I’m a runner and that’s what we do. Good luck with the leg! Lovely photo!

glad to hear it not too bad. Hopefully the Pt can get you going full steam, and I'd do the marathon too if it were me.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you can run!!!

Just don't push it beyond what the doctor says you should be doing!

your so smart for getting into the PT. Most athletes would have just went with denial. I would totally do the same thing. No way would I let the last few months count for nothing. Even thought that's probably a REALLY bad outlook.

Love the hat!

Oh shit. I'm sorry to hear about the pull. I'd say run the marathon, just take the next week or so easy (hell it's taper anyway right????). You've worked to hard for this marathon Molly, but just be very careful!

Sorry I missed all of this! I have been out of pocket with travel and kinderfarten starting. So hope it gets better in time for the marathon!
I thought about you as I read the Kind Diet, have you tried any of the recipes?
