Thursday Three

1. Yesterday the engine blew on my Jeep.

Eliza and I were barely a mile from our house, on a busy road, when all of a sudden it seized up, and we came to a complete stop. Cars kept whizzing by around us, luckily two people stopped to help push me into a nearby driveway so I could wait for the tow truck.  My Jeep is 12 years old, and I love it.  It was the first car I bought that I negotiated the price for on my own, and when I worked at the newspaper, I drove it all over the 5 boroughs of NYC. When Luke and Eliza were born, we brought them home from the hospital in my Jeep. We've taken it on countless road trips. Right now it's at a garage, they're looking for a used motor for it, but I think this might be it's last hurrah.

Bummer.

2. I'm in the middle of a great training cycle.  The past few months I've been in a real mental funk, but it's pretty much gone now, and I'm feeling like myself again.  Which means my motivation is back full force, and it's a great feeling.  I joined the Another Mother Runner Challenge for the month of June, you need to do something active at least five days a week, and take one rest day.   I'm finding it easy to do, which makes me happy.

3. I've mentioned it before, but Frank the dog is a great running partner.  As soon as he sees me grab my running shoes, he starts to lose it with excitement.  But now he's doing it when I grab my ipod. It's funny when we really are going for a run, but not when I'm just plugging it into my laptop to download some tunes.  I have to push him off me, and throw him a bone.

He also likes to swim.

Silly doggie.

Oh I'm sorry to hear about your jeep. That definitely holds a lot of memories for you. Hopefully they can find a motor, but if not, think about all the new memories you can create in a new vehicle - that could be fun!!!

Look how clear that water is - ahhhh.

That stinks about your jeep! I guess they can't.go forever...

That's too.cute about Frank. I swear my Bella has a 6th sense about that stuff. I don't always take her with me, be she always seems to know when I'm planning to before I ever pick up her leash. Same goes for a car ride. I do nothing any different when I'm getting ready to leave whether I'm taking the dogs with me or not. Yet they always seem to know!!!!!

Cars are great but when things like this happen I sometimes wish I could go without one. Hope they can revive your Jeep! I'm glad your training is going well and you are feeling good. Frank is the best!

Seriously--first the flood and now the jeep! You are not having a good time w/ big items right now!!

It's great that Frank loves to run (and swim). I miss those days w/ my old pup.

We go to Indian Lake in the ADKs to a place called Timberlock. It's the BEST!

Sorry about the Jeep. It's funny about dogs and what they pick up on. For mine, it socks. Anytime I go to put on socks, they think they are going with me!

Ugh! I'm so sorry to hear about your jeep...bummer! Love your dog! Used to run with my parents' German Sheppard but she kept cutting in front of me to smell things. Not good!

Drag about the motor on your beloved jeep, sucks! New cars are fun though :). Just not the car payments :(. Hope you're able to get it fixed.

Frank always makes me laugh!

Nice job on the challenge...I think I could do that one, too :).

That stinks about your Jeep. I felt the same way about my first car - I had to get a newer car because my headlights shorted out and it would have been way too much to fix them. So now I have a new to me car and will hopefully drive it until at least 100,000 miles!

Oh that's a bummer about the Jeep! I dread car shopping...kinda rank it up there with swim suit shopping :)

Bummer about the jeep! :(

Yay for getting your motivation back. It takes time...

Cute pup... wish mine ran. They haven't quite figured out pacing yet! Swimming... eh, they can swim laps around me!

That sucks about the Jeep!! Really sucks!!

My dog would make a great swimming partner I think....if only I could find an area that allowed dogs :(

If Frank learns to bike can become a good tri-dog! What a beautiful dog Frank is!
Sorry about the jeep, I don't like to change my cars too.

Bummer about the jeep, but it sure is fun to shop for a new car! 12 years was a good run. RIP jeep :)
