Did I mention my nickname is Sasquatch?

It's a good day when you pick up your custom orthotics.

And an even better day when you buy new running shoes.

And instead of being frustrated that I can't try them both out today, I'm going to be positive, since that day will soon come.

Here is a photo of my orthotics, the new ones are on the left, and they feel pretty good. I wanted to try them out with a short run this afternoon, but the Doc said I need to ease into wearing them.  Which means an hour today, two hours tomorrow, and so on.  Once I have them on for a full day, then I can ease into running in them.  Right now I feel like a horse at the racetrack, rarin' to go, but I'll be good, and follow orders.  Although I'm getting even more nervous about the Boilermaker 15k, it's coming up fast and I'm paranoid about my level of fitness right now.

But a trip to Fleet Feet calmed me down, I was due for a new pair of running shoes, and after trying on a few other styles and brands, I ended up with the Brooks Adrenaline again.  But in a bigger size:

Yup, I'm up half a size to an 11.5.  My left foot is larger than the right, and the toe box seemed tighter on that foot, so I went with these.

I've had a couple of nick names in relation to my height and shoe size, "Molly Boats" was one (get it, my feet are the size of boats?) as well as "Sasquatch".  That was my nick name in college, given to me by my friend Lori.

Ever hear that Pearl Jam song "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town?"

There's a line that goes: "perhaps that's what, no one wants to see?"

If you sing it quickly, it sound's like "But that's Sasquatch, do you want to see??"

That would set Lori off, especially if we were in the bar and it came on the jukebox.

Thanks to everyone who entered my SCAPE giveaway.....I used random.org to choose the winner, and it is Jeff, at Jeff Vanis' Blog!  Congrats : )

Now let's close with a bit of Pearl Jam.......I heart Eddie Vedder.

I think the one thing I found I had to get over when I started running is that I have big feet. Always have. Doesn't matter that my everyday shoes are about a 9-1/2. My runners are an 11. But now that I've run a marathon in an 11 there's no way I'd go back to a 10-1/2. I put those ones on now and wonder how I didn't get more black toenails.

I ♥ Eddie Vedder too.

Super big high 5 to you for getting your orthotics - that's a HUGE check mark of the the "to do" list for returning to running someday soon!!!! Woot!!!!!! I would have never guessed you had a size 11.5 - we should have a bloggy "guess your shoe size". My foot actually measures a size 6 on those metal foot measuring sliding things. I actually wear a 7.5, but knowing I can wear little boys shoes makes me feel tiny (swear it's the only tiny thing on my entire body - smile!).
Here's a cheer to you that you get back to running and feel confidence for your upcoming race!!!

Wise to be patient and listen to the doc with those. New shoes, new orthotics, soon you'll be running like new!

I remember the "break in" phase of mine, I will warn you, once the break in phase is over and your allowed to run in them, it will be painful on your feet, in the arch and the shin, it will only last a couple runs

My running shoe varies between a 10 and 10.5! I didn't realize your feet were bigger than mine! Wow! Its funny how we all have such different sized feet even though most of us are within a feet inches of each other height wise!

That is a really good day! I have a 10k coming up and I am also worried about my fitness. I really want the new Nike frees so I can practice some speed! That is so funny about the song!

Good luck with the orthotics. Be careful I had problem and now I don't use them anymore. After the 2 operations my left leg is half cm. shorter.
