Marathon Weekend!!

Okay.

It's been 18 weeks, and they have flown by.  I've put in the miles, put fuel in my bod (maybe a bit too much), and now it's here.

My mind is set to where it needs to be, time to get all my gear together.

I'm a bit tired this week, feeling a little sleep deprived.  Kids are getting back to school, so we're up earlier, adjusting to new bedtimes.

Had my last PT session, Michelle wished me luck, said I would be fine, that she'll be thinking of me on Sunday.

Then I made an appointment for Monday.

I will be thinking of this on Sunday while I run, and I'll be wearing my American Flag pin.

The weather might be sketchy, maybe rainy, maybe not.

A huge Thank You to Jennifer, one of my BFF's, and Biggest Cheerleader, for making me my Marathon Training Journal....three years before I got the chance to actually use it.

For the race, I'm going to wear my Camo running skirt, grey tank, and white visor.  I've worn this outfit for every long training run, so I can't break from the routine.  On my last long training run, instead of the tank, I wore a Tech shirt and pulled my hamstring.   Superstitious?  Maybe.

Deep Breath.

Game On.

Do your best to get a good night's sleep on Friday.
And then run that race like you know you can.

I'm not at all surprised that your tech shirt put a little extra strain on the hammy.
It's all connected, ya know.

Have fun!

I'm anxious to hear all about it! Go, girl, go!! I think of you when I'm running my pitiful little one mile (compared to your distances). But, for a 59 year old who just got started, I guess it's not too bad. Go the distance!

Try to get a good night sleep Friday night. The sleep two nights out is more important than the night before. Or so they say. And don't be afraid to eat during the marathon. I think over gelling is important when miles 20-26 roll around.

And good luck! You have made this far and ready to toe the line.

"You can do it, you can make it" is a line from one of the Marine Corps running cadences I listen to when I run. Remember that at mile 22 if you doubt yourself!

So exciting!! You've put in the hard work and you're gonna do great! Enjoy it!

Here's a quote that I like:
"I tell our runners to divide the race into thirds. Run the first part with your head, the middle part with your personality, and the last part with your heart."

Hi Molly,
I have been thinking about you so much lately! You are going to be just fine! You just wait and see...you will surprise yourself! I am sending you lots of luck and happy-positive running vibes! Good luck to you as you run this marathon!! Totally looking forward to the race report:)

Go Molly! I am so happy and excited for you! There is absolutely nothing like the feeling of your first marathon. Crossing that finish line is amazing and you will feel so many emotions along the way. My advice is to enjoy and "be in the moment" every step of the way. Gosh, I am getting all choked up over thinking of mine in May. There's nothing like it!
Trust in your training and you will do FANTASTIC. Good luck with the leg and don't worry about your time. Just get to that finish line!!! Go MOLLY!

BTW-keep us posted.
