The funny thing is, although I miss wearing some of my summer wardrobe from last summer, my attitude about it has been very matter of fact. Yes, I've gained weight, but I know I can lose it. It's just a matter of getting the motivation to do it.

As a mom of five, I have to say there are days that I am just exhausted. With the kids and training for the three upcoming half marathons I have, sometimes I just don’t recognize myself. Then I take the kids to the pool and I see all these moms rockin’ a two piece and here am I, the runner chick, in a one piece, cover up, two towels—ugh! Some days you just don’t love your body! Seriously though, every ‘body’ is perfect! So here are some ways when you get in that rut to get out right away!
- Get a new haircut. A great cut can make someone not only look thinner, but also younger! How long has it been since you have had your locks trimmed, dyed, or highlighted? My favorite is to go in and have them turn me around so I am surprised in the end and I can’t talk them out of what they want to do! They are the professionals who cut people all day long, they know what would look fabulous on you!
- Get your foundation checked! Yep, you heard me. Get your foundation, your bras, sports bras, your spanx checked! Did you know that the proper fitting bra can make you look up to ten pounds thinner? Also, people with back fat usually are wearing a bra that does not fit properly. Not to mention, how old is that sports bra? You want to make sure you are replacing those as well! Laundry detergents and the dryer break down the fibers so they don’t support the girls as well as they did when you first got them.
- Buy yourself some flowers. Nothing is as wonderful as walking into your house and smelling beautiful, stunning flowers. I have a friend who has flowers delivered to her house every two weeks—she gets giddy every time they arrive.
- Treat yourself to a spa treatment. A facial, a massage, a scrub, there a many treatments that you can choose from, and being pampered for a day is sure way for you get over your body blues. Have a cup of tea, and just enjoy someone pampering you!
