A New Age Group

Well, tomorrow's the day.

I turn the big 4-0.

Gulp.

I've been fine with the idea of it, it's just a number, and 40 is the new 20, right?  I got ID'd at the liquor store the other day, the sales guy said he would never have thought I was that age, so that gave me a bit of a boost.  But then on Saturday night, it started to sink in. I realized it was the last weekend of my thirties, and I was sitting there in my pj's, with a glass of wine, playing catch up with the DVR.  Shouldn't I have been dancing on a table, or running around with a lampshade on my head? Or something??  I told Mike I didn't want a party, and I still don't, our trip to Disney was the best present I could ask for. Part of me wants to commemorate the day, but the other part of me wants to climb into my bed and wait for Wednesday.

My mother in law just left after staying with us for a couple of weeks, and my Mom is arriving this afternoon for a week. After she leaves, my Dad, and younger sister arrive for the weekend.  Tomorrow I'm heading to Mirbeau for a spa day, then I think we're going out to eat somewhere for dinner.  I have a stack of birthday cards to open, as well as a big package from five of my BFF's.  In a little while I'm going to head out into the snow, for one last run as a 39 year old.

I have much to celebrate and be thankful for, and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next.

Hopefully it's a chocolate birthday cake.

I love how you are celebrating! And I've met you in person--you look much younger than 40!

When I turned 40, it was the realization that life does pass so quickly that really got to me. Like you said, from 30 to 40 was the blink of an eye. Each decade seems to go faster. We can all just try to live in the moment as much as possible. Happy birthday!

Oh wow, I'm eeking my way closer to the big 4-0 as well. Scary, but I've enjoyed my 30's, so I'm sure the 40's are going to be even better!

Age is just a number anyway, plus you look fabulous.

P.S. Spa days ROCK. Enjoy! :)

Happy almost birthday! You are BEAUTIFUL and super young looking. My dad is 55 and always says that age is just a number and that you are as young (or old) as you feel. :) Hope you have a WONDERFUL day tomorrow. Hugs!

40 is totally the new 20!! You honestly don't look 40! It sounds like you are going to be celebrating in a great way pampering yourself...just think you'll be the youngest in your age group!!

That is a smokin' hot picture of an almost 40-year-old! My husband turns 40 in November and we're having a big group party with his college roommate that shares the exact same birthday and another college roommate that will turn 40 a few weeks later. They did this for their 30th and it was fun, but we all had really little kids. I am thinking this year will be even better as most of the kids are school aged now. But the best line of this whole post is the chocolate cake comment at the end. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Celebrate big!

Happy Birthday Molly! Welcome to 'Masters' running. I was hoping that tag came with some magical knowledge about running, but sadly no such luck. Still don't have a clue.

I turned 39 last week. I have never been one to worry about age, but 39 just really seemed like some sort of turning point to me. I'm not sure why. It's like I finally realize that life is not forever, and that I need to do what I need/want to do, and spend as much time that I can with those that I love.

you do not look 40 but the most important is not that it is how you feel...I am over 40 and I feel better now than I did in my 30s and that is my wish for you. Happy Birthday
